“What a rebellious act it is to love yourself naturally in a world of fake appearances.”– Nikki Rowe
Just read this quote above on the top of an article about Paleo friendly body products, and it resonated with me.
Today, we’re expected to cake on makeup to fool the world to think we are perfect, sometimes even that we look different than we actually do.
We’re expected to smell delicious from every beauty and body product we use, down to our lipgloss, and seldom do we stop up to consider what poisonous additives we let into our bodies through our skin.
I remember being told as a health store employee that the additives in your mascara can be traced in your blood shortly after it has been applied (not to mention the amount of lipgloss and lipstick you involuntarily ingest, because let’s face it, it’s nearly impossible not to lick or bite your lip at one time or another during the day).
How scary is that??
I’ll tell you.
It’s scary as fuck when you’re suffering from an autoimmune disorder and you all of the sudden realize that it’s not just what you eat that affect your health, it’s also what seeks through your skin, into your bloodstream.
And what is most important?
For the world to love you for your look, though it isn’t really how you look?
Or, for you to love yourself because you feel and look healthier?
I’ve never been one to cake on a lot of makeup, so for me it’s a no brainer.
These are the brands I currently useEver since I started on the AIP journey, I’ve been searching out clean products and switching everything in my bathroom out. And I’m pleased to say I’m almost satisfied with their cleanness by now.
Let me know, which clean products you have fallen in love with?
